Welcome to the Platform For Self Expression With Ane’. This is a safe space where artists can share what they are working on for the purpose of freedom of expression.
Today we are honored to have with us and I’d like to introduce you to: Keith Anthony Fluitt
What is your name? Do you have an artist name or stage name?
My name is Keith Anthony Fluitt ; this is also my artist name.
What is your career that you’d like to discuss?
I’m a full time singer/songwriter/actor/vocal arranger/vocal contractor.
Where did you study this craft and for how long?
I’ve had a lifetime of training from church, schools and private study.
How long have you been involved in your career?
I’ve been singing full time since ’86 prior to that I worked at Memorial Sloan Cancer Center in many different departments.
What are somethings that you’ve done with regard to your career ?
I’m so Blessed to have worked with the best of the best. The list of names is to long to mention but some of the artists I’ve worked with are Ashford & Simpson, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, The Pet Shop Boys, Olivia Newton John, Celine Dion (as well as co-writing “Met an Angel on Christmas Day”) for her, Roberta Flack, Lester Bowie, LaBelle(worked with each member in their solo careers too), Patti Austin, Martha Wash and so many others along with a host of independent artists as well.
As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?
As a child I wanted to do exactly what I’m doing today.
What was your neighborhood like when you were a child and how did it impact your career ?
I still live in the same neighborhood that I grew up in. My neighborhood is and has been a quiet area. It’s really a neighborhood where for the most part everyone knows everyone, folks look out for one another. There’s quite a few of us who were born and raised in the area and are still here. I would say schools and after school programs had more of an impact in me making a decision in what I do today. Again the motivating force that lead me towards my career was after school programs like “Boys Harbor”, “Alvin Ailey Dance school”(btw we were the first group of kids to attend the school in ’71) and Julia Richmond H.S. (Talent Unlimited).
Are there some issues going on in the world today that challenge you?
The only issues that challenge me is police/black men, world wars and health & education in the U.S.A. As we all know the arts is a great way of bringing attention to a variety of issues and I’m glad to be a part of that community. And still being in my neighborhood where folks know what I do and can afford to live elsewhere but chose to stay here and help my community, our young black boys & girls and our elders. It kinda keeps me sane.
Of the projects that you are currently working on now, which ones are you at liberty to discuss?
One project I’m happy to talk about is the release of my first dance single next month titled “Everybody Get Up” The Face featuring Keith Anthony Fluitt produced by DJ David Morales. So keep an eye out for it!
What do you see yourself doing in about 3 years from now?
For the most part in 3yrs I’d love to be still happy, still healthy and still vibrant with life. If I have those things no matter what I’m doing it’ll be a piece of cake!
Thank you so much Keith! It has been an honor to have you share your authenticity with us. Please send us a link to your first dance single titled “Everybody Get Up” The Face featuring Keith Anthony Fluitt produced by DJ David Morales so we can share it right here.
